I knew it as soon as I saw the press release. IWC was dropping a banger. Black (ceramic) and gold? Textured dial? Perpetual calendar? Digital display? Booyakasha! I was drinking the IWC Kool-Aid right away, and once we got hands-on with the new (deep breath) Swiss made replica IWC Pilot’s Watches Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month, I knew I was right. There was no way this monster wasn’t going to be… a monster. Yes, the watch is big, but at 43mm wide, it’s not the juggernaut you’d expect, though the 16.5mm thickness can be intimidating. But you’ve got to take the whole watch into consideration: With an automatic chronograph movement and a stacked-disc digital perpetual calendar display, the millimeters start adding up, and there are AAA US fake watches with far fewer complications that are just as thick (which is truly inexcusable). At 43mm, 16.5mm feels far better than it does at even 41mm. Even on Ariel’s 6.75-inch wrist, as seen in the photos, it wasn’t overwhelming. Yes, it took up most of the wrist, but the short, curved lugs meant no overhang. Add on top of that the case’s Ceratanium construction, which makes it lighter than steel high quality copy watches this size. For those who may be new to the IWC universe, Ceratanium was introduced in 2017 in a 50th anniversary Aquatimer and is the brand’s special titanium alloy which, through advanced alchemical methods (really hot fire), has the lightness of titanium, the scratch resistance of ceramic, and the black color of carbon (or DLC), without the drawbacks of any of them.

The bracelet, also made of Ceratanium, is notable for the built in microadjust mechanism in the clasp. This mechanism was introduced last year as on aftermarket option for the Ingenieur, and I’m glad to see IWC implementing it in new model without making it an extra cast. By simply pushing the IWC logo, the clasp can be adjusted to one of 7 detents for a perfect fit. These externally-engaged microadjust mechanisms sit above those that require removal of the luxury replica watches, as you can make the change while on the wrist (especially useful when a chilly day turns warm and your wrist swells a bit). Hopefully, we’ll soon see it used on all of its bracelets.

The dial is what really caught me when I first saw the Swiss top super clone watches. There’s depth and texture and contrast and it all works. The first bit of contrast is the polished ceramic tachymeter bezel insert, which stands out against both the matte case finish and the asphalt-like texture of the base dial. The gold markings begin the (unofficial) John Player Special colorway that continues on the dial. I was initially concerned about legibility and how the overlapping perpetual calendar discs would look; it’s often the case that press material and even hands-on images make a just-ok date or simply adequate aperture implementation worse. Here, IWC has made the digital perpetual calendar registers mimic spinning propellers to reinforce the Pilot style (along with the 12 o’clock triangle and pilot hands). Reading the registers was a snap, as the large gold rings stand out against the rest of the dial.

The two least useful indicators are at 6 o’clock: the running seconds (which has an annoyingly unclear double-ended hand) and the leap year disc (which lacks but would benefit from the vented cover of the other perpetual calendar indicators). The dial layout on other replica watches online shop that combine these complications, like the Patek 5270, gives primacy to the chronograph function, but by consolidating the chronograph’s 60-minute and 12-hour counters on a single register at 12 o’clock, IWC emphasizes the perpetual calendar. I’ll be over here counting my pennies until they add up to the right amount.
